SOS Lawn Service & Maintenance

A Henderson landscaping company with 700+ monthly accounts — run entirely out of the owner's notebook. I replaced the notebook with a custom app that runs the whole operation.

The before

700+ accounts. One paper notebook.

SOS Lawn Service & Maintenance has served the Las Vegas valley since 1996. Crews hit hundreds of properties on weekly cycles — and every account, route, and payment lived in the owner's notebook and his head. Old school to the bone, and one lost notebook away from chaos.

The build

A custom app, shaped around how SOS already worked.

I didn't hand them software to adapt to. I built the app around their operation: accounts, weekly route scheduling, crew assignments, job completion, and billing — the notebook's whole job, done by software that never forgets.

The after

An old-school business on modern rails.

The owner now sees every account, every crew, every week — from his pocket. This is what I mean by a dedicated app: if a 1996-era notebook operation can run on custom software, yours can too.

The problem

SOS has served the Las Vegas valley since 1996. Crews visit 700+ properties on weekly cycles — and every account, route, and payment lived in a paper notebook and the owner's head. One lost notebook away from chaos, and impossible to scale.

What I built

A dedicated app built around exactly how SOS already worked — accounts, weekly route scheduling, crew assignments, job tracking, and billing. No off-the-shelf software to bend around; the software bent around the business.

The result

An old-school operation running on modern rails. The owner sees every account, every crew, every week — from his pocket instead of a notebook. That's what a custom build does that a template never will.

The build, step by step

How this one actually got made.

01

Ride along

Before writing a line of code, I learned how SOS actually ran — the notebook, the weekly cycles, how crews got their routes, how money got collected. The software has to match the business, not the other way around.

02

Model the notebook

Every account, route, price, and payment habit in that notebook became structured data. 700+ accounts, mapped exactly as the owner thought about them — by neighborhood, by week, by crew.

03

Build around the operation

The app mirrors how SOS already worked: weekly recurring routes, crew assignments, per-stop job tracking, billing status. Zero new habits forced on a 1996-era operation.

04

Migrate off paper

Every live account moved from the notebook into the system — verified against what crews were actually doing in the field that week.

05

Run it live

The owner now runs the company from his pocket. Routes plan themselves on the weekly cycle, and nothing depends on one book that could be lost in a truck.
